In fact, Dijkstra should go at the top, followed by Knuth. They rarely look outside the code directly affecting their work. Central Staff, oversee the daily operation of the residence hall through the implementation of all residence life policies and procedures related to maintenance, programming, housing assignments, and disciplinary matters. That being said, to continue with jslade's analogy, there are different disciplines in programming (just as there are in ninjutsu, and in sports). Somewhere in the middle are the true software engineers, who approach computer programming in a disciplined and rigourous knowledge-based manner, similar to that of engineers in other fields. The technology itself would be useless if human creativity is not included in its application. Use a list: Code: (setq maxvector '( (2761.11 1898.11 0.0) (3761.12 1538.43 0.0) (4761.15 2598.58 0.0) ) ). Alexander's mathematical concepts and orientation were similar to Edsger Dijkstra's influential A Discipline of Programming. A perfect programmer knows everything there is to know about everything: this is nirvana: it allows us to solve any problem perfectly. Dijkstra talks about this problem in detail in one of my favorite books, "A discipline of programming." Also, here's an article with a surprisingly simple recursive solution: http://nicolas-lara.blogspot.com/2009/01/permutations. Although programming is a discipline with a very large canon of existing work to draw from, the only code most programmers read is the code they maintain. Dijkstra should be included here. And in fact, some of these disciplines are diametric. I think "A Discipline of Programming", " Formal Development of Programs and Proofs" or "A Method of Programming" by Edsger W. For a long time I thought that Dijkstra's 1976 book “A Discipline of Programming” was a preview of the promised land by showing how to do this, not with assertions, but with guarded commands and weakest preconditions.
